2012 Information for Senior Racers

2011 was another strong campaign for the junior and senior race teams. Although we were not crowned champions in the juniors, we competed at a very high standard in a very close competition. Congratulations to the senior team who were crowned champions in a hard fought contest.

As well as being a constitutional requirement, the training program also proves to be a strong base to the racing commitment of our club.

The Club supports racing by the following:-

• 2 day x 2hr Downhill training by Race Instructors (Carve technique)
• Snow board training by Instructors (as required)
• Cross Country training (depending on weather and coaches)
• All race entry fees paid for

Helmets are not compulsory but most racers are now competing in them and it is strongly encouraged

Each participant and official is required to complete Waiver forms for Perisher Blue and Illabunda.

2011 Illabunda Senior Race Report

The Brian Donegan Memorial Illawarra Interclub Race series was contested on the Upper Rollercoaster Race Course at Perisher on Saturday the 13th August in fine weather. Congratulations to our team who did the club proud with some very commendable results. We have a very strong team that was boosted by some from our junior ranks. Thanks to Jared Dryburgh, Paige Davis and Lara Edmonds who all stepped up to the senior level admirably.

Our Giant Slalom team picked up a first place with Ben Dryburgh, Jared Dryburgh and Ben Zeller combining to out do the opposition. Five of our team finishing in the top ten

Likewise in the Snowboard event with four Illabundans in the top ten, with our best performers on the day Jared Dryburgh, Thomas Williams and Todd Fairbrother securing first place.

In the Cross Country event we improved significantly on last year’s result to finish in second place with some good individual performances. Liam Zeller led the charge for us here and along with Matt Egle Marshall and Ben Dryburgh, who all finished in the top ten

Our first place in Giant Slalom and Snowboard with second in the Cross Country secured the overall victory and we were crowned 2011 Champion Club.

Congratulations to Ben Dryburgh who finished second in the Male Individual Combined event, Lara Edmonds who finished 4th in the Female Individual Combined Event and also to Robert McCulloch who showed everyone that he still has what it takes in the Male over 50 combined category with a 4th place overall.

• MALE GIANT SLALOM : 1st Ben Dryburgh, 3rd Jared Dryburgh, 4th Ben Zeller, 9th Tyson Egle Marshall, 10th Jonathan Williams.
• FEMALE SNOWBOARD : 2nd Paige Davis, 3rd Lara Edmonds, 8th Alexandra McCulloch.
• MALE SNOWBOARD : 3rd Jared Dryburgh, 4th Thomas Williams, 8th Todd Fairbrother, 9th Ben Drburgh, 10th Liam Zeller.
• MALE CROSS COUNTRY : 4th Liam Zeller, 6th Matt Egle Marshall, 7th Ben Dryburgh, 8th Jonathan Williams.
